The fed has created around 3 trillion dollars through quantitative easing since March. Though there is not substantial evidence to prove that quantitative easing works , it seems to be keeping the stock markets quite stable. It will be interesting to see how this policy plays out and it’s effects on the US economy. Thoughts?

Uber has acquired Postmates for $2.65bn as it aims to capture the delivery-as-a-service market. Uber is pushing to turn Uber Eats into Uber "everything" as it aims to shift away from solely delivering food to capturing large margins on goods - like Amazon. Uber aims to achieve delivery to a customer within a couple of hours. This is highly unlikely to be accessed from large out-of-town delivery stations and fulfilment centres. Rather, it aims to connect local drivers to shops in an attempt to compete against Amazon.

WeWork is on track to have positive cash flow in 2021, after a major decline involving a cut to its workforce by more than 8,000 people, renegotiated leases and sold off assets. With greater emerging demand for flexible office spaces, could we see WeWork as a possible profitable venture? Or will it succumb to its original pitfall once the economy rebounds? How differently should WeWork approach the market this time around?

Have you guys heard of NIO? Its basically China’s version of Tesla and lately it has received a lot of publicity (its stock price has almost tripled this last month). Tesla’s stock price is up 155% in the past 3 months in fact it rose by 10% just yesterday. It seems that every time Musk tweets, the stock rallies. What is behind this unprecedented growth or is it just full of air and ready to burst soon? Will the short sellers milk a huge profit or will tesla join the S and P 500 and see its stock price shoot through the roof?

The SEC has proposed to allow smaller hedge funds (less than $3.5 billion in AUM) to keep their portfolio holdings private, only requiring the top 10% to file 13F. What could this mean for investors from the decrease in transparency and the reduction in public information into the market?

Although US sanctions do not apply to food and medicine, Iranian authorities have warned that they are making the import of drugs complicated and expensive and occasionally cause shortages in the market. This news comes after a brim of success is found in treatment of coronavirus using Hepatitis C drugs. Shouldn't this be a time for global collaboration? Shouldn't countries stop temporarily blaming other countries on their previous mishaps until at least we can restrict Covid-19?

As per Financial Times on 8th July, it has been said that a combination of antiviral drugs have shown promising results in treating Covid-19 in Iran. In results from three trials, 94 per cent of hospitalised patients taking a combination of sofosbuvir and daclatasvir showed reduced fevers and improved breathing versus 70 per cent in the control arm.

US immigration authorities have now said that international students whose courses move fully online this autumn could face having their visas revoked. International students in the U.S. contributed nearly $41 billion to the national economy in the 2018-2019 academic year, according to NAFSA: Association of International Educators.
