A New Tesla - NIO - Jonas10 - 07-11-2020
Have you guys heard of NIO? Its basically China’s version of Tesla and lately it has received a lot of publicity (its stock price has almost tripled this last month). NIO has also been able to introduce swappable batteries, something Tesla could not manage to do. Does anyone see NIO being a tough competitor to Tesla in the future?

Definitely. If NIO can achieve economies of scale and release a final product commensurate with the current demand patterns in China, then I don't see how it will be anything less than a competitor against Tesla in the Chinese markets. I mean, it is going to get full backing from the Chinese government for starters since it is their domestic product against Tesla, which is an American company. Hopefully, NIO is a product of innovation rather than imitation so we see new features in the electric vehicles industry.
